Haverford College Center for Peace & Global Citizenship and 8th Dimension are co-sponsoring a service learning trip in partnership with High Rocks, an award winning leadership development program based in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The High Rocks mission is to support and strengthen young West Virginia women from all walks of life. High Rocks educates, empowers and inspires girls, giving them the confidence to lead active lives and work towards the long-term betterment of the community.
Nazzi Soroush’13, who completed a summer internship with High Rocks in 2010, will lead this service learning trip, available to between six and eight Haverford and Bryn Mawr students (all class years and genders are eligible). The projects will involve working with girls in after school programs, learning about social, political and economic issues impacting their communities, lending a hand with physical projects, and experiencing Appalachia!
