The BMC Civic Engagement Office and the HC CPGC will offer the Effective Grantsmanship Seminar during the spring 2011 semester. The seminar will be taught by Dr. Margie Dubrow and Dr. Andrea Taylor, two professional grant writers.
The BMC Civic Engagement Office and the HC Center for Peace and Global Citizenship will offer the Effective Grantsmanship Seminar during the spring 2011 semester. The seminar will be taught by Dr. Margie Dubrow and Dr. Andrea Taylor, two professional grant writers.
Through this 23 hour seminar series, BMC and HC sophomores, juniors and seniors will learn how to:
- Write a solid action plan before developing a grant proposal
- Research potential funding sources
- Identify & collect information that is needed for a successful grant
- Write a successful proposal
In addition students will work directly with a local community based organization on a grant project, and will be expected to spend 12 hours working on that project over the course of the semester.
Two Information Sessions will be held on January 20th: 5:00-6:00 pm at BMC and 7:00-8:00 pm at HC, locations tba.
However, we are alerting you about the seminar ahead of time, so you can consider the seminar schedule as you plan your other commitments next semester AND before you make travel plans for spring break. Some of the seminar sessions take place during Spring Break (Sunday, March 5 – Tuesday, March 8th); the others take place on Saturdays or Thursday evenings during February, March and April. Students must commit in advance to complete the whole series.
Student applications will be available at the Information Session or can be downloaded from the Civic Engagement Office later this month. Applications will be due on January 27th.
