Using samplers, analogue keyboards, field recordings, and guitars, Matmos--a.k.a. M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel--make atmospheric, idiosyncratic electronica. In addition to incorporating chance operations into their sequencing environment, many songs are based upon a working methodology of “conceptual restriction”- songs are built entirely out of samples from a single sound source: field recordings, contact microphones on hair, even the sound of an amplified synapse from crayfish nerve tissue.
Saturday, April 16th
Matmos presents the debut of new material from their forthcoming project "The Marriage of True Minds", including a composition for video and voice made in collaboration with Haverford students.
Organized by Associate Professor of English Gus Stadler Sponsored by the Humanities Center’s Mellon Creative Arts Residencies Plannning Grant haverford.edu/hhc
