AcadeMIX (pronounced: "academics") is an annual hip hop symposium that seeks to explore the history, art, study, and performance of hip hop.
The inaugural symposium was held in spring 2008, and focused on the influences of international hip hop. In 2009, AcadeMIX asked, "what's the connection between social justice and hip hop?" and brought hip hop scholars and artists to answer that question though workshops, dialogue, and performances.
Throughout the symposium this year, past and current student artists will explore the connection between "Books and Beats."
Simone Crew '13, Howard Brown '12, Nikki Lopez BMC '13, Professor Jesse Shipley, and M1 and stic.man of Dead Prez will discuss their experiences with academics and hip hop.
