Description
Mark Doty is a critically-acclaimed, award winning author. In his 1997 memoir, Heaven’s Coast, Doty chronicles the story of his partner’s illness and, ultimately, death at the hands of AIDS. Heaven’s Coast is a beautiful, if painful, literary feat. Mark Doty will read from Heaven’s Coast for the Haverford Community and will talk about the impact of AIDS on his life. He also will take questions.
Doty also is the author of Dog Years, Firebird: A Memoir, and Still Life with Oysters and Lemon in addition to many works of poetry including, Atlantis, My Alexandria, and Fire to Fire.
This promises to be an unforgettable lecture for the students, staff, faculty, and the community of Haverford.
A reception and book signing in the Multicultral Center (MCC) will follow the lecture.
Sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Health Services, the Office of Student Activities, the Dean's Office, the Sexuality and Gender Alliance Student Affinity Group, the Humanities Center, the Eight Dimension, and the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship.
