Description
Dr. Peter Blair coordinates all of the policy activities in the engineering and physical science area at the National Research Council of the National Academies, which advises government agencies on scientific policy issues. In particular, he managed 5 peer-reviewed studies of energy options. These studies are likely to form the basis for U.S. energy policy over the next decade.
Dr. Blair was previously Executive Director of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, and was Assistant Director of the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore and a Ph.D. in Energy Management from Penn. He is the author of three books and over a hundred articles in areas related to energy and environmental policy.
In addition to his public lecture on April 1, he will also speak on "Forces Shaping the Science Advisory Process in Washington" on Friday April 2 at 11:30 in Stokes 10.
