Stereomicroscopes

The instructions for the SMZ 1500 are, for the most part, interchangable with the SMZ 1000 and 800. The only difference is magnification. The cameras, camera holder, and epi-fluorescence attachment are all interchangable as well. They also all use the same software NIS-Elements BR 3.0-4.0. Instructions coming soon!

Spectrophotometer Support and Protocols

The Ultraspec (I-III) and Novaspec (I-II) have the same general operating procedure. The Ultraspecs have Deuterieum Lamps and are capable of making measurements in the Ultraviolet spectrum. The Novaspecs can only be used for making measurements with the visible spectrum. The Tecan SpectraFLuor Plus has a specific set of filters for fluorescence and absorbance. These will be listed in the protocol coming soon. The NanoDrop is used for measuring highly concentrated samples in both the UV and visible spectrums.

ImageJ Plugins

To install the plugins below. Click on the appropriate link to download the zip file. Extract the contents to a folder and give it a meaningful Label. For example, if you download the Rectangular Graticule plugin; call it "Rectangular_Graticule." Go to the folder where ImageJ is installed (on mac go to Finder> Applications> ImageJ; for Windows go to Start> My Computer> C:/> Programs> ImageJ). Open the ImageJ Folder. Look for the folder titled "Plug_ins." Move the folder with the extracted files (in this Example move "Rectangular_Graticule") into the plug_ins folder. When you start ImageJ you should see the Rectangular Graticule (no underscore) in the Plugins dropdown menu. If you do not see it in the list when you start ImageJ, you probably do not have an underscore in the folder name. If the plugin doesn not work you probably need to compile the plugin. See instructions below.
