Macrate - Computer/Video Projector Directions

Please follow these directions STEP-BY-STEP for success

I.      Setting up the projector and screen

1.        Lower the projection screen with the control switch located inside the closet door on the right side.

2.        Turn on the “MAIN POWER” switch located in the top right corner of the equipment rack.

3.        Turn on the projector: On the “Projector Control” panel in the “Display’ section press the “Power” button once.

4.        WAIT until the RED light stops blinking.  The RED light blinks to indicate the projector in on and warming up.

5.        Follow one of the choices below:

II.      Use a LAPTOP computer

1.        On the “Projector Control” plate press the “LAPTOP” input.  Don’t turn on your computer yet!

2.        Connect your laptop to the projector using the Computer Video cable (located in the drawer in the cabinet).  Connect one end to your laptop’s monitor output and the other end to the wall plate at the front of the room.  The proper input is labeled “Laptop”. *

3.        If you need network access connect one end of the Ethernet cable (located in the drawer in the cabinet, if you do not have your own) to the network jack on your laptop and the other end to the Ethernet jack on the wall.  The active wall jack is typically marked with a little round red sticker.

4.        Turn on your laptop computer.  Wait until the laptop starts up fully before proceeding.

5.        If there is no image on the projector you may have to adjust your laptop’s monitor settings.  On a PC use the FUNCTION-F key combination  (look for a little TV screen, “LCD” or “display” on the function keys).  On a MAC laptop you may have to “arrange the monitors” and/or turn on video mirroring in the control strip.

* NOTE: If you need sound from your laptop to come out of the room’s speakers:

1.        Connect the mini-plug on one end of the computer video cable to the headphone/speaker output jack on your laptop and connect the other end to the “Audio” jack just below the “Laptop” input on the wall plate.

2.        Turn on the audio amplifier power but make sure the volume control on the amplifier is all the way down before you turn it on.

3.        On the audio amplifier turn the “Input Selector” knob to “Tape 2”.

4.        Adjust the volume with the “Volume” control on the audio amplifier and with the volume control on your laptop computer.

III.      Showing a DVD or VHS Video

1.        On the “Projector Control” panel select either the “VCR” or “DVD” input.

2.        Turn on the VCR/DVD power.

3.        Insert your videotape or DVD disc.

4.        Turn on the audio amplifier power.

5.        On the audio amplifier turn the “Input Select” knob to “Tape 2”.

6.        Push “PLAY” on the VCR or DVD to start the video. *

7.        Adjust the volume with the “Volume” control on the audio amplifier.

8.        The remote control for the VCR/DVD is in the drawer. *

* Note for DVD:

1.        You’ll probably need the remote control in order to navigate around the DVD’s

 menus and to actually play the DVD.

2.        The DVD will also project when the projector controller is set to VCR.  Set the

projector controller to “DVD” for the optimum DVD image resolution and clarity.

IV.      Turning off the projector

Important!   Turn off the projector when you are done:

1.        To turn OFF the video projector press the power button on the “Projector Control” panel once.  The RED light blinks.  This is normal. The fan on the projector will run for several minutes.  This is normal.  Turning off the “MAIN POWER’ at the top right of the cabinet will not turn off the

projector, you must use the power button on the “Projector Control” panel.

2.        If applicable: Stop and eject your videotape or DVD and turn off the power on the VCR or DVD.

3.        If applicable: Unhook the video and/or Ethernet cable(s) from your laptop computer, coil them up,

and return them to the drawer.

4.        Turn off the “MAIN POWER’ at the top right of the cabinet.  It is OK to turn the main power off   while the projector’s cooling fan is still running.

5.        Raise the projection screen and lock the closet door.

V.      Listening to audio only

To listen to audio sources (CD, tape, aux audio input) only, there is no need to turn on the projector

or use the “Projector Control”:

1.        Turn on the rack power,

2.        Turn on the audio amplifier

3.        On the audio amplifier turn the “Input Select” knob to the source you wish to listen to:

Tape 2                     =              VHS and DVD

Tape 1                     =              Cassette tape

Phono                      =              Record player

Tuner                       =              CD

Aux                          =              Aux. audio in

Warnings
  1. Do not try to turn the projector off and back on again in quick succession. Once you turn the projector off the projector needs several minutes for the cooling fan to run. You may turn the projector back on again after you hear the cooling fan turn off.
  2. Always turn the volume control down all the way before you turn on the rack main power and/or audio amplifier. This will help to prevent possible damage to the speakers.
  3. The volume control on the projector control panel is disabled. Use the volume knob on the audio amplifier to adjust all volumes.
