Chase Auditorium - Directions for the using the Computer/Video projector

1.      Lower the screen using the screen control panel located on the left side of the chalkboard.

2.      Turn on the “Main Power” switch at the top right of the equipment rack so that the red operation light is illuminated.

3.      Turn on the computer/video projector using the “Projector Input Selector” by pressing and holding down the “DISPLAY POWER” button (the RED button) until it begins to flash.  You will notice a small green operation light illuminate on the video projector, indicating that the projector is on and warming up.

4.      Wait about 20 seconds until you see the projector illuminate the screen.

5.      The 2 small rack lights at the top of the rack will help you see the equipment when the room is darkened for projection.

(Note: This system will automatically detect

and play foreign standard video tapes)

1.        On the “Projector Input Selector”, select input #1 (this selects the signal from the VCR in the rack and sends it to the projector).

2.        Turn on the VCR in the equipment rack and insert your video tape.  Push “PLAY” on the VCR to start the tape if necessary (some tapes will start playing automatically after you insert them into the VCR).

3.        You can also use the VCR remote control, located in the drawer in the equipment rack, to control the VCR functions.

4.        Adjust the volume of the video tape by adjusting the dial marked “VOLUME CONTROL” on the equipment rack.

1.        On the “Projector Input Selector”, select

input #2 (this selects the signal from the DVD player in the rack and sends it to the projector).

2.        Turn on the DVD player in the equipment rack and insert your DVD disc.  Push “PLAY” on the DVD player to start the disc.

3.        Some DVD discs will require that you to use the remote control, located in the drawer in the equipment rack, to begin playing the disc and to access the DVD player’s advanced functions.

4.        Adjust the volume of the DVD disc by adjusting the dial marked “VOLUME CONTROL” on the equipment rack.

5.        Depending on whether you are viewing a wide screen or regular TV (or “pan and scan”) formatted movie, you may have to use the DVD player menu to change to the correct aspect ratio of the movie.  Stop the DVD disc.  Using the remote, choose “MENU” and use the arrow keys to select “INITIAL”.  Push enter and arrow key down to “ASPECT” (#6).  Use the arrow buttons to choose the correct aspect ratio.  Press “MENU” to exit.

1.        Don’t turn on your computer yet!  Get the computer video cable out of the drawer in the equipment rack and plug one end into your laptop’s video jack and the other into the jack labeled “INPUT” on the wall plate to the right of the projection screen.

2.        If you need network or internet access, hook up the Ethernet cable from the drawer to your laptop and to the Ethernet jack on the wall (the one with the red dot is active).

3.        If you need sound from your computer to come out of the room’s PA system, hook the audio cable attached to the computer video cable to your computer and to the audio jack on the wall plate marked “PC”.  Adjust the volume of the computer audio by adjusting the dial marked “VOLUME CONTROL” on the equipment rack and with the volume control on the computer.

4.        On the “Projector Input Selector”, select input #5 (this selects the signal from the computer and sends it to the projector).

5.        Now turn on your computer.  The computer image should automatically come up on the projection screen.  If it does not you’ll have to access your computer’s video control panel and manually turn on the signal to the projector.

IMPORTANT!!!   When you are done:

1.      Turn off the video projector using the “Projector Input Switcher” by pressing and holding the “DISPLAY POWER” button until it begins to flash.  You should realize that even though the projector lamp has turned off, the projector cooling fan will remain running for approximately 2 minutes.  This is normal.

2.      If applicable: stop and eject your video tape or DVD disc and turn off the power on the VCR or DVD player.

3.      If applicable: return all remote controls to the drawer in the equipment rack.

4.      If applicable: unhook all the cables from the computer, coil them up, and return them to the drawer in the equipment rack.

5.      If applicable: turn off the lights at the top of the rack and push them in.

6.      Turn off the “Main Power Supply” in the equipment rack.

7.      Notice that the power on the “Projector Input Switcher” does not turn off.  This is normal, as this unit remains on at all times.

8.      Raise the projection screen. 

9.      Lock the cabinet!
