Directions for the using the Interactive Media Control System

Please contact AV Services for details on the system’s more advanced functions

 

1.      Make sure the podium power cord is plugged in.  There are receptacles on the floor of the auditorium.

 

2.      Activate the LCD touch screen control panel in the podium by touching it.

 

3.      At the prompt “Push to enter the password”, touch the screen.

 

4.      Enter in the password ______________ on the keypad and then push “Enter”.  (Contact AV for the password)

 

5.      At the “Main Menu” choose the media device you want to use.

 

To view a Videotape or DVD

To view 35mm slides

To project Computer images

(Note: This system will automatically detect

and play foreign standard video tapes)

 

1.       Open the closet and load your videotape into the VCR or disc into the DVD player.

 

2.       On the “Main Menu” of the touch screen, select “VCR” or “DVD”. This will automatically turn on the projector, lower the screen, and lower the lights.

 

3.       On the touch screen you can control all functions of the VCR or DVD with the buttons:  Play, FF, Rew, Stop, etc.

 

4.       Adjust the volume of the video tape or DVD with the up and down arrows marked “VOLUME” on the touch screen.

 

 

 

 

1.       Open the projection booth door (get the key from AV) and load your slide tray(s) onto the projector(s).

 

2.       On the “Main Menu” of the touch screen, select “Slide”.

 

3.       On the next page, “Slides”, select either “Single” or “Dual” slide projectors. This will automatically turn on the projector(s), lower the screen, and lower the lights.

 

4.       On the next screen use the buttons to control the forward, reverse, and focus functions of the slide projector(s).

 

 

 

1.                   Don’t turn on your computer yet!  Get the computer video cable out of the closet and plug one end into your laptop’s video jack and the other into the jack labeled “Computer 1” on the wall plate to the left of the projection screen.

 

2.                   If you need network or internet access, hook up your Ethernet cable to your laptop and to the Ethernet jack on the floor (it is marked).

 

3.                   If you need sound from your computer to come out of the room’s PA system, hook the audio cable from the closet to your computer and to the audio jack on the wall plate marked “PC Audio”. 

 

4.                   On the “Main Menu” of the touch screen, select “PC”.

 

5.                   On the next page select “Computer 1”.  This will automatically turn on the projector, lower the screen, and lower the lights.

 

6.                   Now turn on your computer.  The computer image should automatically come up on the projection screen.  If it does not you’ll have to access your computer’s video control panel and manually turn on the signal to the projector.

 

Note:

 

·        You can control the room lights and projection screens by returning to the main menu.

·        There is a small reading light on the podium.

 

 

IMPORTANT!!!   When you are done:

 

1.      Turn off the system:  Return to the “Main Menu” of the control system and select “Done Using System”.  Do not unplug the podium, it should be left plugged in all the time!

 

2.      If applicable: Stop and eject your video tape or DVD and lock the closet.

3.      If applicable: Unhook all the cables from the computer, coil them up, return them to the closet and lock the closet.

4.      If applicable: Turn off the reading light on the podium.
