H012 Data/Video Projector Directions

1.      Open the equipment cabinet at front of room.

2.      Turn on “Main Power’ switch at top right of equipment rack.

3.      Get the projector remote control out of the drawer in the bottom of the equipment rack.

4.      Lower the projection screen manually with attached string.

5.      Turn on the projector: Aim the handheld remote control (from the drawer in the rack) at the projector and press the “Standby/On” button ONCE.

For Computer projection:

1.      On the projector remote push the “RGB” button until “RGB 1” appears on the screen.

2.      Connect your laptop to the projector using the monitor cable (from the drawer in the rack).  Connect one end to your laptop’s video output and the other end to the wall plate at the front of the room below the chalkboard.  The proper wall-plate input is labeled “Laptop”.

3.      If you need sound from your laptop to come out of the room’s speakers:

A.     Connect the mini-plug on one end of the monitor cable to the speaker/headphone output jack on your laptop.  Connect the other end to the audio jack just below the “Laptop” input on the wall plate.

B.     Turn on the power to the audio amplifier.  Adjust the “Laptop” volume knob and also the “Master” volume knob.  You may also adjust the volume on your laptop.

4.      If you need network access connect one end of the Ethernet cable (located in the cabinet at the front of the room, if you do not have your own) to the network jack on your laptop and the other end to the Ethernet jack below the chalkboard.  The active wall jack is typically marked with a little round red sticker.

5.      Turn on your laptop computer. You may have to adjust your laptop’s settings to get the image onto the projector. On a PC use a FUNCTION-F key combo (look for a little TV screen, “LCD” or “Display” on the function keys) to enable the external computer image.  On a MAC laptop you may have to turn on video mirroring in the control strip.

For DVD or VHS projection:

1.      On the projector remote push the “VIDEO” button until “VIDEO” appears on the screen.

2.      Turn on the DVD/VCR power.

3.      Insert your DVD or tape into the DVD/VCR.  Push “Play” on the VCR. Use the remote for DVD.

4.      Adjust the volume with the “DVD/VCR” and “Master” volume control knobs located on the amplifier.

5.      The remote control for the DVD/VCR is located in the drawer in the bottom of the equipment rack.  You’ll probably need the remote control to play a DVD and to navigate around the DVD’s menus.

When you are done:

1.      Turn off the projector using the projector remote.  You have to depress the “Standby/On” button down TWICE to turn off the projector.

2.      Raise the projection screen.

3.      Return the remotes and/or cables to the equipment rack drawer.

4.      Lock the cabinet
