Amy Bergin

Entering her sixth year as head coach, Amy Bergin has stamped her team as a top Centennial Conference mainstay. She has directed the program to five consecutive conference tournament appearances, and led Haverford to its first-ever Centennial Championship in 2006. Under Bergin, the Fords reached the second round in their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2006.

During Coach Bergin's tenure, the team has progressed each season, rewriting the record books with each new accomplishment. In 2002, Haverford defeated Gettysburg, for the first time in program history. Other achievements include the prestigious title of 2003 Seven Sisters Tournament Champions and posting its first conference playoff win in 2004. Coach Bergin has produced 11 All-Conference athletes, four Mid Atlantic All-Region players, one AVCA National Player of the Week and one NCAA record holder for career total attempts. She also has had two Academic All-District athletes. The program boasts having only the second, four-time First Team All-Centennial Conference player in conference history. Presently, one active member holds an individual record.

Prior to coming to Haverford, Coach Bergin was an assistant coach at Marietta College (Ohio) for the volleyball and softball programs while earning an M.A. in education. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Bethany College (W.Va.), graduating cum laude in 1999. As a volleyball and softball player, she was recognized as the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete and Outstanding Scholar-Athlete. Her performance is well documented in Bethany's record books.

A member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Bergin resides in Lafayette Hill, PA with husband, Matt, and daughters, Suzie and Megan.

Bergin is assisted by Shannan Smith who is in her second season.
