#16 Haverford Wins Second Consecutive Flying Dutchman Tournament Title;
Hinchcliff & Rebecca Salvo Named All-Tournament


ANNVILLE, PA - The 16th-ranked Haverford volleyball team took home its second consecutive Flying Dutchman Tournament crown, hosted by Lebanon Valley College, with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-26) win over tournament host Lebanon Valley and its second tournament win over Penn State-Altoona, 3-0 (32-30, 30-27, 30-8), in as many days. Haverford remains undefeated in 2007, pushing its overall record to 14-0 with the victories. Haverford senior setter Emily Hinchcliff and sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Salvo were also named to the All-Tournament team for the second consecutive season.

Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Salvo led Haverford in its sweep over Lebanon Valley, totaling 15 kills with a .481 hitting percentage while adding 15 digs and a block. Senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 35 assists and had 14 digs, while senior outside hitter Laura Nuyen led the Fords with 24 digs along with three blocks. Senior outside hitter and freshman outside hitter Kelsey Cantwell each have five service aces in the win. Senior middle hitter K'Lynn Solt led the Fords with six blocks and sophomore Rebecca Salvo pounded down 12 kills and added ten digs and three blocks.

Rachel Salvo led Haverford in the Fords championship match against PSU-Altoona with a team-high 18 kills, a .372 hitting percentage along with eight digs and a service ace. Rebecca Salvo had 13 kills with a .406 hitting percentage, 21 digs and three blocks. Nuyen added ten kills with a .350 hitting percentage and 16 digs.

Haverford also won the 2006 Flying Dutchman Tournament with wins over Penn State-Altoona, Lebanon Valley, Eastern and Ursinus.

"This was a good regional tournament and got to see some good competition," said head coach Amy Bergin. "We learned a lot and will take that knowledge into our conference opener on Tuesday."

The Fords will open Centennial Conference play Tuesday evening with a 7:00 p.m. match at Washington College.
