Why did you choose Haverford?
I wanted a small school with strong academics and a good running program – Haverford offered excellent academics and running. When I visited, I fell in love with the campus and I really liked the team.
How the Haverford experience is unique?
Haverford is a much smaller, and I think more personal, school than most of those that we compete against. Also, I think the student-athletes here take as much pride in their academic work as their athletic work.
What does it mean to you to be a student-athlete?
It means challenging myself both physically and intellectually on a daily basis. It also means I have a tight-knit group of fellow students who I depend on and who depend on me.
Favorite Haverford memory?
The conference outdoor track championships this past spring; it looked like it might be a tight meet, but many of my teammates had great performances and it generated a ton of excitement and energy on the team, which led to even more awesome performances – it reminded me of just how close our team is at Haverford.
What advice would you give a high school student considering Haverford?
When you visit, be sure to talk with a lot of students, and if you can, professors. If you're an athlete, talk to the coaches of your sport. Most of all, take in the campus – it's beautiful.
