Favorite class?
My favorite class was Astronomy 101 with Professor Partridge. Even though the class was really large he always kept everyone engaged and made the classes interesting. He also took the time to learn everyone's name.
Thoughts on the Honor Code:
I think the Honor Code is an important part of the Haverford Community. One reason I chose to come to Haverford is because of the Honor Code. The Honor Code creates a more relaxed environment by giving responsibility to the students and teaching us to think for ourselves rather than having strict rules enforced by others.
Favorite extra curricular activity?
I'm looking forward to being an HCO for the Class of '12. I think the customs program is a really important part of freshman year and I'm glad to be involved in it. As a freshman I loved having a customs group as it made it easy to get to know people and make really good friends almost as soon as I arrived on campus. I am excited to be an HCO as it will allow me to share my interpretation of the Honor Code with other students and hear their views about it as well.
What does it mean to you to be a student-athlete?
To me being a student-athlete in part means creating a balance between academics and athletics that allows me to pursue all of my interests without being completely overwhelmed with just one activity. Taking a break from my academic work to practice and compete with the tennis team helps me to avoid becoming overly stressed from academics.
What advice would you give a high school student considering Haverford?
I would tell a high school student that they should come to Haverford with an open-mind and take classes in various areas before deciding on a major. I still do not know what I want to major in and while trying to decide I have taken a variety of classes, many of which I would not have taken if I had already had a major in mind.
