Haverford Takes Bite Out of Bears with 8-1 Season Finale Win
HAVERFORD, PA - Haverford head women's tennis
coach Ann Koger's team finished its 2007 season with a convincing
8-1 win over visiting Centennial Conference foe Ursinus Tuesday
afternoon. Seniors Sarah Loeffler, Alex Glickman and Priya Amar
capped off their careers at Haverford with wins this afternoon.
Loeffler was a winner at number two doubles with freshman teammate
Karen Lavi, and also took home a win at number four singles. Glickman
and Amar won convincingly at number one doubles, while Glickman
won at number one singles. The Fords finish their 2007 campaign
with a 5-11 overall record and a 3-7 mark against Centennial competition.
The Fords took all three doubles matches, with Amar and Glickman
recording a 8-4 win at number one over Jenna Hope and Jill Alspach.
Lavi and Loeffler topped Laura Ng and Leah Stambaugh at number
two, 8-2, while the freshman team of Jaclyn Porter and Fumiko
Shogase served a 8-0 whitewash of Pam Odorizzi and Molly McGlinchey.
Glickman kept the wins coming with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hope and
number one singles, while took care of Lindsey Kunkel, 6-3, 6-0.
Loeffler had the most convincing singles win of the afternoon
with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Odorizzi, while Porter topped Rachael
Sussman, 6-1, 6-3. Shogase picked up the Fords eighth point of
the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Malinowski.
Haverford, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South region, finished
the 2007 season tied for eighth in the Centennial with its 3-7
record. Match Results
