Haverford Falls to #17 Swarthmore, 8-1
HAVERFORD, PA - The freshman number three doubles
team of Jaclyn Porter and Fumiko Shogase defeated Rebecca Committo
and Kearney Bangs, 8-4 to record Haverford's only team point in
a 8-1 Centennial Conference women's tennis loss to 17th-ranked
Swarthmore Wednesday afternoon.
Haverford Senior Margot Elton fell on the short side of a hard
faught, 6-4, 0-6, 0-1 (9-11) decision against Bangs at number
six singles. Senior Alex Glickman fell at number one singles to
Swarthmore's Sonya Reynolds, the fourth-ranked singles player
in the Atlantic South region, in a closely contested match, 7-6
(7-1), 6-3.
The Fords (4-10 overall, 2-6 Centennial) will look to get back
on the winning track on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home match against
Centennial opponent Dickinson.
