ALLENTOWN, PA - Visiting Haverford fell on
the short side of a 5-4 match against host Muhlenberg in its Centennial
Conference opener Wednesday afternoon. The Fords fall to 2-4 overall
on the season while the Mules improve to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in
conference play.
Haverford and Muhlenberg split its singles matches, with the Mules
winning at numbers one through three and the Fords winning in
numbers four through six. Senior Sarah Loeffler was a 8-2 winner
at number four, while freshman Jaclyn Porter also won 8-2 at number
five. Freshman Fumiko Shogase won 8-3 at number six to round out
the Haverford singles wins.
Muhlenberg took two of the three doubles points to earn the 5-4
win. The Fords lone doubles point came in number three doubles
where Shogase and Porter won, 8-6.
Haverford will host Centennial opponent Franklin & Mershall
on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in its home opener. Match Results
