ORLANDO, FL - Haverford won an exciting match
over Millsaps, 5-4 on Monday morning, but fell to St. Mary's College
of Indiana 8-1 in its second match of the day. Freshman Fumiko
Shogase went 2-0 on the day at number six singles to lead the
Fords.
In Haverford's match against Millsaps, senior Sarah Loeffler (6-1,
6-2), freshman Karen Lavi (6-1, 6-1), freshman Jaclyn Porter (6-1,
6-1) and Shogase (6-4, 6-4) each had wins at numbers three, four,
five and six singles, respectively. Lavi and Loeffler picked up
the Fords fifth and deciding point in an 8-5 doubles win over
Allisa Vincent and Beth Fossen to give Haverford its first win
of the young season.
Shogase was the lone Ford to capture a point in the second match
of the day with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 win at number six singles.
Haverford will look to improve to .500 tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m.
match against the College of St. Scholastica.
