Haverford Blanks McDaniel, 9-0
WESTMINSTER, MD - Freshman Fumiko Shogase did not lose a game
to lead Haverford to a two-hour twenty minute 9-0 victory over
host McDaniel in Centennial Conference women’s tennis action
on Saturday. The Fords improve to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in Centennial
competition with the win, while the Green Terror fall to 0-7 overall
and in Centennial play.
Shogase teamed with freshman Jaclyn Porter to win at third doubles
8-0, helping pace the Fords to a 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Shogase then followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six singles
over Kelly Rampmeyer. Seniors Priya Amar and Margot Elton were
winners at number one and two singles, respectively, while freshman
Karen Lavi was a winner at number three. Senior Sarah Loeffler
and Porter won at numbers four and five singles to give Haverford
the complete 9-0 sweep.
Haverford will look to extend its winning streak to three matches
on Wednesday when they host rival Swarthmore.
