HAVERFORD, PA - With the match tied at 4-4,
visiting Dickinson picked up a three-set win at number five singles
to edge host Haverford, 5-4, Saturday afternoon in a Centennial
Conference women's tennis match. Senior Alex Glickman contributed
to two of Haverford's four points on the day with wins at number
one singles and doubles.
The Fords started with an early 2-1 lead after doubles play. Glickman
and teammate Priya Amar topped Erica Tobias and Amanda Kaplan,
8-4, while freshmen Jaclyn Porter and Fumiko Shogase bested Hana
Thomson and Kat Hood, 9-7.
Glickman was a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 winner over Tobias, while freshman
Karen Lavi defeated Kaplan in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Dickinson
registered wins in four of the six singles matchups, including
Maya Ginsburg's 7-6 (8-5), 2-6, 6-2 victory at number five singles
to clinch the over four hour long match for the Red Devils.
The loss drops Haverford to 4-11 overall on the season and 2-7
in Centennial competition, while the win improves Dickinson's
records to 9-8 and 5-4.
The Fords will close out the season on Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m.
