CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Freshmen Evan Stiegel,
Thomas Kinrade and Marc Rudolph gave Haverford hope with wins
at singles 1-2-6 after the Fords dropped the best-of-three doubles
point, putting the outcome of Saturday's second Centennial Conference
semifinal in the hands of classmate Alex Buxbaum.
Buxbaum fought back from a set down
and a 5-4 deficit in the second set versus Blue Jays #4 Kevin
Ma, but he fell in the decisive match, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
Stiegel defeated the region's 19th-ranked
player, Joe Vasoontara, 6-0, 0-6, 6-3, at first singles, while
Kinrade beat Blue Jays #2 Hillen Smith, 7-5, 6-2. Rudolph downed
JHU's Lawrence Wei, 6-4, 6-4, at sixth singles.
The only non-freshman in the Haverford
(13-4) singles lineup, junior co-captain Elmar Trust, and frosh
Steve Feder lost in straight sets at numbers 3 and 5, respectively.
Despite an 8-6 win by Buxbaum/Kinrade
over Vasoontara/Smith at first doubles, the Blue Jays (11-7) had
captured the doubles point with 8-3 wins by Nick Kennedy/Raffi
Roberti and Ma/Matt Naftilan over Stiegel/Trust and Marc Adelberg/D.
Tad Henry, respectively.
4/26/06 Haverford 6, Ursinus 1
HAVERFORD -- Elmar Trust, D. Tad Henry,
Curt Fentress and Ben Greenfield were easy winners at the top
four singles positions, as Haverford (13-3, 7-1) completed its
regular season with a win over Ursinus (2-10, 1-7) Wednesday.
Nicholas Mirra toughed out a 4-6, 6-4,
1-0 (7) win at fifth singles, while Andy Chen suffered a 6-4,
6-2 setback at sixth singles.
Trust/Marc Adelberg and Steve Feder/Dave
Merrell captured the best-of-three doubles points with their respective
wins at numbers 1 and 2. Peter Blessington and Matt Kokot dropped
an 8-6 decision at third doubles.
The Fords (13-3, 7-1) will be seeded
second in this weekend's inaugural Centennial team championships
at Washington (Md.). They will face third-seeded, defending conference
champion Johns Hopkins (10-6, 6-2) in Saturday's semifinals.

SWARTHMORE -- Elmar Trust and Steve
Feder were the singles winners for Haverford (12-3) as the Fords
fell to non-conference host Swarthmore (6-10) Monday afternoon
at Faulkner Courts.
Trust defeated the Garnet's Brian Park,
2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (2), at third singles, while Feder downed Swat #5
Adam Wallwork, 6-3, 6-4. Alex Buxbaum nearly secured a third point
for the Fords with his 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8) loss to Jon Lo at fourth
singles.
First and third doubles were close
as well, with Buxbaum/Thomas Kinrade falling by an 8-5 score to
Zac Rodd/Park at number 1, and Marc Adelberg/D. Tad Henry dropping
an 8-6 decision to Kevin Shaughnessy/Sam Sidhu at number 3.

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- In an indoor match
Saturday between the last two unbeaten teams in the conference,
host Washington (16-3, 8-0) earned the right to host the inaugural
Centennial team championships (semifinals and finals) next weekend.
Thomas Kinrade earned the only point
for the Fords (12-2, 6-1) with his 7-6, 1-6, 1-0 win over Shoremen
#3 Anantha Bhaskar. Stephen Feder had the next closest match for
the visitors, as he fell to Mike Edison, 6-3, 6-4, at fourth singles.
The Shoremen, ranked 14th nationally
and third in the region, blitzed the Fords, ranked seventh in
the region, in doubles, dropping just two games in three pro-set
matches.

Marshall 0
HAVERFORD -- Evan Stiegel, Thomas Kinrade,
Elmar Trust, Alex Buxbaum, Penn Tong and Nicholas Mirra swept
through singles in straight sets Tuesday, as Haverford (12-1,
6-0) swept F&M (5-9, 3-4) to set up a first-place showdown
Saturday at Washington College (14-3, 6-0).
Buxbaum/Kinrade and Trust/Stiegel were
easy winners at first- and second-doubles, while Ben Greenfield
and Matt Kokot held on for a 9-8 (5) pro-set win at third doubles.
The winner of Saturday's match in Chestertown,
Md., is a likely to be the top-seed and host of the inaugural
four-team Centennial Conference championships (semifinals and
finals) on Saturday-Sunday, April 29-30.

HAVERFORD -- Elmar Trust, Steve Feder,
Ben Greenfield, Dave Merrell and Peter Blessington were all winners
in straight sets for host Haverford (11-1, 5-0), which remained
unbeaten in the Centennial Conference play.
Curt Fentress won, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2, at
third singles over Chris Reed of McDaniel (5-10, 0-6) in the only
split decision among the singles matches.
Trust/Marc Adelberg, Feder/Merrell
and Fentress/Jeff Monhait were all easy pro-set winners in the
best-of-three doubles to open the match.

ALLENTOWN -- Evan Stiegel defeated
Muhlenberg #1 Adam Nodiff, 7-6 (3), 6-1, and his teammates cruised
through the remaining singles as Haverford improved to 10-1, 4-0
Centennial Conference with its win Wednesday at Muhlenberg (3-5,
1-4).
The Fords' Kellan Webb, Tad Henry,
Marc Adelberg, Ben Greenfield and Jeffrey Monhait lost just seven
games between them at singles 2 through 6.
Stiegel/Adelberg, Webb/Henry and Greenfield/Monhait
swept the best-of-3 doubles point with easy pro-set wins to open
the match.

HAVERFORD -- Curt Fentress and Penn
Tong won together at third doubles, 8-3, and separately in straight
sets at fourth- and fifth-singles, as Haverford improved to 9-1
on the season with its non-conference win over Division II USP
Monday.
Evan Stiegel, Marc Rudolph and Jeff
Monhait were also straight-set singles winners for the Fords at
numbers 1-3-6. Steve Feder and Dave Merrell won, 8-2, at second
doubles to secure the best-of-three doubles point with Fentress
and Tong.
Paul Caceres was a double-winner for
the Devils (1-4) with his 6-2, 6-4, second-singles win over Kellan
Webb and his 8-1, first-doubles win with partner Tyler Weisel
over Thomas Kinrade and Elmar Trust.

GETTYSBURG -- Evan Stiegel, Elmar Trust,
Thomas Kinrade, Steve Feder and Marc Rudolph swept the top five
singles in straight sets to keep Haverford perfect in Centennial
Conference play Saturday.
Stiegel and Feder were tested by their
Gettysburg (7-4, 2-2) opponents, as they both won by 7-5 margins
in their respective second-sets. Matt Kokot picked up an 8-4 pro-set
win over Andrew Scalingi at sixth singles.
The Fords (8-1, 3-0) breezed to the
opening best-of-three doubles point with pro-set wins by Stiegel/Trust,
Kinrade/Feder and Rudolph/Kokot.

after they had surrendered the best-of-3 doubles point to the
defending Centennial Conference champion Blue Jays (1-4, 0-1).
Buxbaum and fellow freshman Thomas
Kinrade had won first doubles, 5-4 (ret.), but tough losses by
the Fords' Marc Adelberg/Tad Henry and Marc Rudolph/Trust set
up the dramatic turnaround in singles.

Ma was suspended due to darkness with Ma leading, 7-5, 3-4, while
Henry captured the final point for Haverford (7-1, 2-0) with a

CARLISLE -- Evan Stiegel, Elmar Trust,
Thomas Kinrade and Alex Buxbaum swept the first four singles matches
in straight sets, after pairing up to clinch the best-of-three
doubles point, as Haverford (6-1, 1-0) blitzed Centennial Conference
host Dickinson Saturday.
Buxbaum/Kinrade and Stiegel/Trust won
in pro-sets, while Marc Adelberg and Tad Henry fell, 9-7, to Rob
Isaacs/Brent Shoemaker of the Red Devils (5-3, 0-1). Steigel defeated
Isaacs, 6-3, 7-5, at #1 in the closest decision among the singles
matches.
Steve Feder did not drop a game to
Dickinson #5 Jackson Parmenter, while Henry won, 6-2, 6-1, over
Shoemaker at sixth singles.

TRENTON -- Freshmen Alex Buxbaum and
Stephen Feder won their respective 5-6 singles matches over TCNJ's
Justin Cook and Sonnie Pollosco, respectively, but the Fords were
kept off the board by the host Lions (2-1) in pro-set doubles
and straight-set singles matches Sunday.
Buxbaum won, 4-6, 7-1, 1-0 (6), and
Feder won, 6-1, 6-2, to provide the team points for the previously
unbeaten Fords (5-1).

Alex Buxbaum/Kinrade, Marc Adelberg/Henry
and Feder/Dave Merrell took the best-of-three doubles point with
easy pro-set victories. Stiegel and Trust had the toughest matches
at numbers 1 and 2, winning 6-3, 7-5, and 7-5, 6-1, against Michael
Woods and Anders Novesky, respectively.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Freshman Evan Stiegel
battled back for a, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win, and his classmates Alex
Buxbaum, Stephen Feder and Tad Henry won in straight sets, as
Haverford (4-0) used four singles wins to overcome the loss of
the match-opening doubles point and end a five-match winning streak
by Wheaton Friday.
Junior captain Elmar Trust and frosh
Thomas Kinrade lost their singles matches in three sets. The Thunder
(8-3) had eked out the best-of-three doubles point with wins over
Stiegel/Trust, 9-8 (8-6), and Feder/Henry, 8-6, after handing
Buxbaum/Kinrade a win by default at third doubles.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Christopher Newport's
men's tennis team dropped its second straight match, losing a
5-2 decision to Haverford (3-0) Thursday afternoon.
In doubles action, Alex Buxbaum and
Tom Kinrade defeated Eddie Glidewell (HC) and Worth Richardson
(CNU) 8-3 at No. 1; Evan Stiegel and Kellan Webb (HC) defeated
Anthony Rinaldis and Adam Peters (CNU) 8-6; and Steve Feder and
Tad Henry (HC) defeated Matt Brueggemann and Steven Inge (CNU)
8-4 at No. 3.
In singles play, Glidewell defeated
Stiegel, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2; Elmar Trust defeated Richardson, 6-1,
6-4 at No. 2; Kinrade defeated Rinaldis, 6-4, 6-3; Inge defeated
Webb, 6-2, retired-injury at No. 4; Buxbaum defeated Peters, 6-0,

ORANGE LAKE, Fla. -- Freshmen Evan
Stiegel, Kellan Webb, Thomas Kinrade, Steve Feder and sophomore
Marc Adelberg swept their respective singles matches in straight
sets as Haverford (2-0) opened Spring Break with a win.
Stiegel/Webb, Feder/Tad Henry and Alex
Buxbaum/Kinrade were all pro-set doubles winners, with the final
tandem taking their match by a close, 8-6 margin.

HAVERFORD -- Freshmen Evan Stiegel,
Thomas Kinrade, Alex Buxbaum, Tad Henry and Steve Feder were straight-set
winners at singles 2 through 6 for host Haverford (1-0), which
won its spring season-opener.
Stiegel had the most closely contested
decision among the winners, as he took down the Ducks' Ricky Bowa,
6-3, 7-6 (1).
Junior captain Elmar Trust lost a tough,
6-4, 6-4 decision at number 1 to Steve Su. He and third-doubles
partner Marc Adelberg won, 8-2, to complete a sweep of the best-of-three
doubles point led by Buxbaum/Kinrade and Henry/Stiegel.

U of. Mary Washington
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Freshmen Kellan
Webb and Alex Buxbaum were the only Fords to win their opening
round matches in the championship singles draw, but three players
advanced in the consolation bracket Sunday.
Frosh Thomas Kinrade downed Swarthmore's
Sam Sidhu, 4-6, 6-2, 10-4, to advance to Monday morning's consolation
semis against Salisbury's James Mills. Evan Stiegel fell in the
second round to Christopher Newport's John Mook, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0
(8), and Elmar Trust reached the consolation quarters and lost
there to Washington & Lee's Seth Feibelman, 6-2, 6-4.
Trust and partner Marc Adelberg won
their opening match in the championship doubles draw, but they
were eliminated by second-seeded Paul Bristow and Randy Loden
of Mary Washington, 8-3. Stiegel and Webb got past one round of
consolation doubles by beating the hosts' Chris Armes and Austin
Koch, 8-5.
Stephen Feder breezed into Monday's
B Draw singles semifinals versus UMW's Mike Durkin with four straight-set
victories in a row, capped by a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 quarterfinal win
over Swarthmore's Dan Wulc. Buxbaum/Kinrade won four pro-set matches,
including wins over the Swat's Shingo Murata/Wulc, 9-8, and Johns
Hopkins' Justin Lee/Kevin Ma, 8-2, to fly into the B draw doubles
finals against the mixed team of Ronen Kashvin (Washington-Md.)
and Matt Vaughn (Christopher Newport).

Tournament at Haverford
HAVERFORD -- Haverford freshman Evan
Stiegel captured the PHATTT singles flight 1-2 final Sunday, defeating
Drew University's Ryan McDonald, 6-0, 6-2, for the tourney's top
individual title.
Stiegel's classmates Thomas Kinrade
and Kellan Webb met in the flight 3-4 final, and Kinkade came
away a 6-3, 6-1 victor. Two other Fords frosh, Alex Buxbaum and
Tad Henry, squared off in the flight 5-6 final with Buxbaum winning,
6-2, 6-3. In the flight 7-8 final, Haverfordians Marc Adelberg
and Curt Fentress faced one another and Adelberg took the decision,
6-3, 6-3. Matt Kokot defeated Drew's Theo Livadiotis, 8-5, for
win the consolation bracket and fifth-place in flight 7-8.
Ross Lieblich and Jason Swenson of
Drew topped Stiegel/Elmar Trust, 8-5, in the first doubles final,
but Buxbaum/Kinkade were easy 8-3 winners over the Rangers' McDonald/Rich
Rapoport in the second flight. The Fords' Stephen Feder/David
Merrell blanked F&M's Ben Hart/George Stamboulis, 8-0, in
the third doubles championship.
Fentress/Penn Tong downed Kokot/Alex
Salton in the all-Haverford fourth doubles final, 8-6.
Haverford's Trust (1-2 singles), F&M's
Ben Hart (3-4 singles) and Muhlenberg's Randy Salani (5-6 singles)
received the PHATTT 2005 Sportsmanship Awards, as selected by
a vote of players and coaches.

Tournament at Haverford
HAVERFORD -- Haverford freshman Evan
Stiegel reached Sunday's singles Flight 1-2 final against Drew
University's Ryan McDonald with a 6-3, 6-4, win over Drew's Jason
Swenson.
Fords frosh Kellan Webb will face classmate
Thomas Kinkade in the singles Flight 3-4 final after they dropped
just three games combined in semifinal wins over their respective
Franklin & Marshall and Drew opponents. The 5-6 and 7-8 singles
finals are also all-Haverford affairs with Tad Henry facing Alex
Buxbaum and Marc Adelberg taking on Curt Fentress Sunday morning.
In the first doubles draw, Stiegel
and Elmar Trust defeated F&M's Alex Levy and Andrew Mayer
and will face Ross Lieblich and Swenson of Drew for top honors.
Buxbaum/Kinkade and Stephen Feder/David
Merrell reached the finals with wins in second and third doubles,
respectively, while the Fords' pairings of Matt Kokot/Alex Salton
and Fentress/Penn Tong will meet in the fourth doubles final.
