#30 Haverford Cruises Past Ursinus, 8-1
HAVERFORD, PA - Host Haverford, the 30th-ranked
men's tennis team in Division III, cruised past visiting Centennial
Conference opponent Ursinus, 8-1 Wednesday afternoon. Haverford's
singles lineup featured three players who made their season debuts
Wednesday, with two of those players winning. The Fords continue
to roll and are now 11-0 overall on the season and 6-0 in Centennial
competition on the season. Ursinus falls to 2-10 and 0-5 with
the loss.
Haverford took all three doubles matches to start off the afternoon
on the right foot. Sophomore Steve Feder and Marc Rudolph disposed
of Ben Isser and Jason Zerbe, 8-3, while senior co-captains Curt
Fentress and Trust made easy work of Stephen Leydet and Todd Wonderlin,
8-1. Sophomores Jeff Monhait and Dave Merrell dominated Wes Palmer
and Josh Hollaman, 8-4.
Sophomore Tom Kinrade beat Isser, 6-0, 6-1 while junior Marc Adelberg
made quick work of Zerbe at number two singles, 6-1, 6-0. Fentress
topped Wonderlin at number three, 6-3, 6-2. Freshmen Connor Bischak
and Rutwik Kharkar were successful in their collegiate debuts
with wins at numbers four and five singles, respectively. Bischak
defeated Ryan Metcalf, 6-4, 7-5 while Kharkar beat Robert Saunders
at number five, 6-3, 6-1.
Haverford will host The College of New Jersey on Thursday at 3:30
p.m.
