Haverford Rolls Over St. Scholastica, 9-0
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL - Head coach Sean
Sloane's men's tennis team won its second match in as many days
Tuesday by a score of 9-0 over The College of St. Scholastica.
All but one victory in singles was decided in straight sets as
the Fords (2-0 overall) cruised to their second victory of the
young season.
Sophomore Evan Stiegel defeated Derek Johnson in three sets at
number one singles, 3-6, 6-3 and 10-6 in the third set tiebreaker.
Sophomore Alex Buxbaum disposed of Dillon Sterle at number two
singles (6-1, 6-0) while sophomore teammate Steve Feder bested
Nehanja Radosevic (6-1, 6-3) at number three. Sophomore Kellan
Webb blanked Will Ruckel at number four (6-0, 6-0) as sophomore
Marc Rudolph took care of Ryan LaCoursiere (6-1, 6-3) at number
five and junior Marc Adelberg easily defeated Alex Rogers at number
six (6-2, 6-3).
The Fords cruised to three wins in doubles with sophomore Alex
Buxbaum and Stiegel leading the team at number one, defeating
Johnson and Pete Sparty 8-5. Sophomore Tom Kinrade and senior
co-captain Elmar Trust were 8-3 winners at number two doubles
over Puckell and LaCoursiere. Freshman Mike Gelberg and Rudolph
cruised to an 8-1 win at number three doubles.
Haverford will finish its Florida trip on Thursday with a 11:30
a.m. match against Drew in Fort Gatlin.
