FORT GATLIN, FL - The Haverford men's
tennis team, ranked 30th in Division III and seventh in the Atlantic
South region, continued its hot start to the 2007 season with
a 9-0 victory over Drew Thursday afternoon. The Fords closed out
their season-opening spring break trip to Florida with a 3-0 overall
record.
Sophomore Tom Kinrade topped Drew's Anthony Tunnero (6-2, 6-1)
at number one while sophomore teammate Alex Buxbaum defeated Ross
Rieblich (6-2, 6-0) at number two. Sophomore Evan Stiegel, ranked
12th in the Atlantic South in singles, took care of the Rangers
Jason Woods (6-4, 6-1) at number three. Senior co-captain Elmar
Trust bested Vik Rao (6-4, 6-3) at number four while sophomore
Steve Feder sent Jon Tivor packing with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number
five. Sophomore Marc Rudolph finished off Drew at number six singles
with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alec Jaslow.
The Fords number one doubles team of Buxbaum and Kinrade, ranked
ninth nationally and second in the Atlantic South, made easy work
of Rieblich and Mike Kennedy, 8-3. Rudolph and Trust made it look
easy against Tunnero and Woods with an 8-2 win, while junior Marc
Adelberg and freshman Mike Gelberg got past Rao and Tivor, 9-7.
Haverford will open up its 2007 Centennial season on Tuesday with
a 3:30 p.m. match at Muhlenberg.
