HAVERFORD, PA -The
Haverford men's tennis team, ranked 30th among Division III teams
in the country and seventh in the Atlantic South region, is off
to a 5-0 overall start and a 2-0 record in Centennial Conference
play after defeating visiting conference foe Dickinson, 7-2, Saturday
afternoon.
The Fords took two of three in doubles as senior co-captain Elmar
Trust and sophomore teammate Evan Stiegel defeated Jackson Parmenter
and Eric Schroeder 8-1 at number three. Sophomores Alex Buxbaum
and Tom Kinrade, ranked ninth in Division III and second in the
Atlantic South, topped Andrew Kastner and Whitney McFarlane, 8-3.
Buxbaum and Kinrade went on to win at number one and two doubles,
respectively. Buxbaum won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, over McFarlane
while Kinrade shut out Rich Rosenthal, 6-0, 6-0. Stiegel, ranked
12th in the Atlantic South in singles, topped Trevor Heck in two
sets, 7-6 (4), 6-2 while sophomore Steve Feder defeated Pavel
Heisek, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Sophomore Kellan Webb recorded the Fords
seventh match point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Robbie Dickinson.
The Fords will host Centennial opponent Franklin & Marshall
on Wednesday.
