Season comes to a close for women's tennis

05/02/09 – A loss in the conference tournament semifinals puts an end to the season for women's tennis.
BALTIMORE – The Haverford women's tennis team's season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the No. 9 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays posted a 5-0 win over the Fords in a semifinal match of the 2009 Centennial Conference postseason tournament.
Haverford fell behind 3-0 after doubles play, then Hopkins closed out the win with singles victories at Nos. 3 and 4.
All-Conference performer Katie Wettick finished her season with a 6-3 record over final nine matches. Teammate Fumiko Shogase closed out her season on the same streak.
The 2009 tournament marked the first time the Fords have ever qualified for the team championship since the first tournament in 1994.
