HAVERFORD, PA - Host Haverford easily
defeated shorthanded visiting U. of Washington, 9-0, Friday evening
in men's squash action. The Fords improve to 3-2 overall on the
season with the victory.
Junior Alex Salton defeat Robert Shaw at number 1 (9-4, 9-3, 9-5),
and Jason Bazarsky also swept his opponent, Roscoe Koekener, 9-4,
9-5, 9-6, at number two. Sophomore Evan Stiegel disposed of Paul
Higson at number three (9-4, 9-5, 9-1) and Mike Montesano went
four games, but defeated Najib Morcos at number four (9-1, 10-8,
7-9, 9-5). Adil Khan had no problems beating Adam Dengler at number
five (9-3, 9-1, 9-3) and Alex Buxbaum topped Mauricia Cema at
number six (7-9, 9-1, 9-0, 9-0).
Washington did not have enough players to fill spots seven through
nine, so Karan Shah, Jeff Monhait and Tom Simmerville were all
victorious in those spots, respectively, by forfeit.
Haverford will host Penn State Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and will
take on Vassar following the Penn State match at 3:30 p.m.
