Haverford Competes at Seven Sisters;
Trump Smith, 6-3
Poughkeepsie, NY - The Haverford women's squash
team competed at the Seven Sisters Squash Tournament this past
weekend, hosted by Vassar. The Fords went 1-3 as a team on the
weekend. Haverford's win came in its last match on Sunday over
Smith, 6-3.
Senior Charlotte Koeniger was the top individual performer for
Haverford, going 2-2 in the tournament. Koeniger bested Wellesley's
Joan Huang (9-7, 9-1, 9-3) in the opening match of the tournament
at number three. In Haverford's win over Smith, Koeniger took
care of Talia Williams, 9-4, 9-0, 9-2, for her second win in the
tournament. Other victorious Haverford individuals against Smith
were sophomore Sarah Powell at number four over Jacinth Cooke
(9-6, 9-7, 2-9, 10-8), sophomore Jenny Millman at number five
over Jessica MacLeod (9-4, 9-0, 9-3), senior Allyson Scherb over
Mary Opler at number six (9-3, 9-0, 9-2) senior Margot Elton over
Sarah Smyth at number seven (9-3, 9-2, 9-1), and sophomore Sarita
Kapadia over Katrina Dugan at number nine (9-5, 7-9, 9-1, 9-2).
The women's squash team will next compete against George Washington
and Franklin & Marshall, at F&M, on February 10.
The Fords Alumnae event is scheduled for February 3 at 1:00 p.m.
