Women's Squash Edged by F&M & George Washington
HAVERFORD, PA - The Haverford women's
squash team fell one victory shy of defeating both visiting Franklin
& Marshall and George Washington over the weekend. The women's
team, currently 0-3 overall, was edged by both the Diplomats and
Colonials, 5-4, at home, on Saturday afternoon. Haverford numbers
six through nine went a combined 8-0 on the day.
Senior Allison Scherb went 2-0 for the afternoon at number six.
Scherb defeated the Diplomats Courtney Mulligan (10-9, 9-7, 9-1)
in her first match up of the day, and followed that with an impressive
victory over George Washington's Christina Lazar (6-9, 9-4, 9-5,
9-1). Sophomore Jenny Millman also went 2-0 on the day at number
seven with a sweep over F&M's Katie Gaskins (9-0, 9-0, 9-0),
and a 9-0, 9-1, 9-3 over George Washington's Maggie Alexander.
Junior Emma Bartlett recorded a 9-4, 9-2, 9-2 win over the Diplomats
Dana Russo along with a closely contested victory over the Colonials
Sybil Bunn (9-6, 9-7, 9-7), at number eight. Margot Elton was
also undefeated at number nine on Saturday, with wins over F&M's
Ellen Hart (9-0, 9-0, 9-0) and GWU's Leah Sheroyan (9-3, 9-2,
9-3).
The Fords will host Columbia on December 3rd at 5:00 p.m.
