Swarthmore Squeaks by Haverford, 1-0
SWARTHMORE, PA – Haverford College gave up
only one goal, but could not muster much offense as host Swarthmore
College defeated the Fords, 1-0, late Saturday afternoon. The
Garnet improved to 13-3-1 overall and 7-3 in Centennial Conference
play with the win, while the Fords end their season at 5-9-3 and
4-5-1.
The Fords played a strong defensive first half, as the game was
played to a 0-0 draw after the first 45 minutes of play. However,
the Garnet’s Natalie Negrey took a pass from teammate Maggie
DeLorme in the 52nd minute and got it past Haverford goalie Lindsay
Festa’s head. The ball had very little life and dribbled
into the Fords net before Festa, or any other Haverford defender
could catch up to it. Swarthmore used an aggressive style of defense
for the remainder of the contest, holding on for the 1-0 win.
Haverford sophomore goalie Lindsay Festa made
five saves for the Fords in
the loss. Game
