ALLENTOWN, PA - Visiting Haverford College
(4-4-1 overall, 3-1 Centennial) won its second straight Centennial
Conference game, third overall, with a 1-0 victory over host Muhlenberg
(4-5, 1-3) on Friday afternoon. Freshman forward Molly Graepel
scored her first collegiate goal in the Fords victory.
After a scoreless first half, Graepel netted
the game's lone goal only 2:08 into the second period. After a
takeaway in the Mules defensive end, junior forward Ryan Hedrick
took a shot on goal which found its way past the Mules goalie.
A Muhlenberg defender tried to kick the ball away from the net,
but the clear attempt found Graepel instead, who kicked it into
the empty net for the goal. Hedrick was credited with the assist,
and leads Haverford with two goals and two assists for six points
on the year.
Haverford sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Festa earned her fifth
shut out of the season, making four saves in the victory. Festa
has not allowed a goal over the past three games. She last gave
up a goal 309 minutes and 21 seconds ago in the Fords, 1-0, non-conference
loss to Eastern on September 20. Festa is knocking on the door
of her own personal record of 322:58 of play in net without giving
up a goal, which occurred over a span of the Fords first five
games last season.
Haverford will next play at non-conference
opponent Moravian at 4:00 p.m on Wednesday.
