Green Terror Tops Fords, 2-1, in 2OT
WESTMINSTER, MD - Visiting Haverford College
held a 19-7 edge on shots and a 14-4 advantage in corner kicks,
but were defeated by host McDaniel, 2-1, in double overtime Saturday
afternoon. Junior forward Ryan Hedrick scored the Fords only goal,
while sophomore defender Southey Saul tallied the assist.
Hedrick recorded her team-leading third goal of the season in
the sixth minute to put Haverford up, 1-0. McDaniel's Sarah Wallace
knotted the game at one a piece with a goal in the 25th minute.
The game remained that way until Haverford fouled McDaniel in
the box, leading to a penalty kick in the 108th minute. McDaniel's
Kelly Neel took the penalty kick, and scored to lead McDaniel
to the 2-1 victory.
Haverford sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Festa made two saves in
the loss, while McDaniel net minder Michelle Mullen recorded eight
saves.
The Fords slipped to 4-6-1 overall and 3-2 in Centennial play,
while McDaniel improved to 4-7 and 3-3.
Haverford returns to action Wednesday with a 4:00
p.m. game against Centennial opponent Washington College.
