Cabrini Rolls Past Haverford, 5-0


Visiting Cabrini scored four first half goals en route to a 5-0 victory over host Haverford in second day action of the 2007 Jimmy Mills men's soccer tournament. Both teams finish the tournament with a 1-1 mark. Haverford defeated Delaware Valley, 1-0, while Cabrini fell to Dickinson, 1-0 in the first day of the tournament. Wiltsee Scores First Career Goal as Haverford Downs Delaware Valley, 1-0


Junior midfielder Jim Wiltsee scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute, the first of his career, off a pass from freshman forward Max Stossel to lift Jimmy Mills Tournament host Haverford over Delaware Valley 1-0 Saturday afternoon. Soccer is the most popular team sport in the world. The World Series, Super Bowl or Olympic Games don't attract as large an audience as the World Cup soccer final, seen by nearly two billion TV viewers worldwide. While the sport does not enjoy the same popularity in the United States, it does have strong roots locally that can be traced to Haverford College, which in 1902 had the first U.S. college team to play soccer as we know it today. more...
