Dover, DE - The Haverford College men's soccer team dropped its
2006 season opener Saturday evening, 2-0, to Wesley College. Sophomore
goalkeeper Adam Care made four saves in net for the Fords in the
losing effort.
Wesley netted two goals in the first half, and held the Fords
scoreless throughout the rest of the game. Trevor Welke netted
the Wolverines first goal in the 12th minute off a corner kick.
Chris Benson capped off the Wolverines scoring with a goal of
his own in the 39th minute.
The Fords were held to a disadvantage in shots (12-6),
and corner kicks (7-3) in the contest. Care also split time with
sophomore goalie Jim Wiltsee, who made one save for Haverford
in the loss.
Haverford returns to action on Tuesday afternoon
with its home opener at Walton Field against non-conference opponent
Moravian at 4:00 p.m.
