ALLENTOWN, PA - Haverford sophomore midfielder Panos Panidis
scored his second goal in three games, but it was not enough as
Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg topped visiting Haverford,
3-1, Wednesday evening in men's soccer action. With the loss,
the Fords fall to 2-13-1 overall and 1-6-1 in Centennial play,
while Muhlenberg improved to 8-4-2 and 4-3-1.
Muhlenberg's Billy Dalton opened the scoring on a penalty kick
in the fifth minute of the game. Dalton then connected on another
goal off a throw-in pass by teammate Karim Assous in the 59th
minute, giving Muhlenberg a 2-0 lead. Muhlenberg extended its
lead to 3-0 in the 80th minute, as Brendan Carroll connected on
a cross pass off the foot of teammate Steve Tenenzapf. Panidis
tallied his third goal of the season in the 88th minute, but it
was too little too late for the Fords, as the Mules went on to
the 3-1 win.
Sophomore goalkeepers Adam Care and Jim Wiltsee split time in
net for Haverford. The Fords had six saves in a game which saw
the Mules out shoot Haverford 18-9.
Haverford will close out its 2006 season at Centennial rival Swarthmore
on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
