HAVERFORD, PA – Haverford College lost to visiting non-conference
opponent Alvernia, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Walton Field. With
the win, the Crusaders improve to 4-1-1 overall while the Fords
fall to 1-5.
Alvernia scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute.
Crusader defender Greg Allegra and midfielder Zach Naylon took
advantage of a two-on-one breakaway in the box. Allegra fed the
ball to Naylon who proceeded to shoot it past diving Haverford
goalkeeper Jim Wiltsee.
The Crusaders out shot the Fords by a margin of
21-10. Alvernia put constant pressure on the Haverford defense
throughout the game, holding a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

and Panos Panidis each had three shots in the losing effort.
The Fords return to action on Friday when they travel
to Centennial Conference opponent Franklin & Marshall for
a 4:00 p.m. contest.
