Season Outlook
After a strong 2007 season, the coaching staff is extremely excited to work toward the next step in 2008. On attack, senior co-captain Mike Distler will lead the offense once again. Senior Shane Hafer started at both attack and midfield in ’07 and will return to anchor the offense.
Sophomores Brian Fleishhacker and Alex Guy return after making significant impacts during their freshmen campaigns in ’07. And four talented freshman, Jory Fong, Max Hjelm, Jason Leeds, and Myles Monaghan will add depth and versatility to the attack unit.
In the midfield, seniors Dean Granoff and Matt Thorne- Fitzgerald will again lead our offensive midfield unit, while senior co-captain Matt Handel will once again anchor the defensive side of the midfield along with fellow senior Eric Carlson and sophomore David Lawrence. And seniors Brian Till and Derek Lief will look to contribute as well. Junior Pete Hannapel will again be relied upon to handle a majority of the face-off duties and fellow juniors Jeremy Golan and Matt Turnier will look to provide offensive sparks in the midfield. Sophomore Andrew Kim will again take a leadership role in the offense, while Andrew Devlin will contribute at the offensive end and Patrick Kaszubski will add team depth. Fellow sophomores Jake Kastner and Noel Capozzalo will also compete for time on the defensive side of the midfield. Freshmen Travis Gregory and Robert Breckenridge will both compete for significant time in 2008.
On defense, seniors Joel Censer and John Magovern lead a veteran group that will again get contributions from junior Jamey Van Opstal. Sophomore Grant Firestone, LSM, Grant will be depended upon in the midfield again, while fellow sophomores Matt Dooley, Jordan Daniels, and Matt Starke will all compete for leading roles on defense. Fellow sophomore Eric Brown should add depth to the group, along with a talented trio of freshmen: Leks Gerlak, Scott Kelley, and Mike Troup.
In the goal, there will be a wide open competition to replace K.C. Peterson ’07. Senior Jake Mendlinger and sophomores John- Paul Cashiola and Ian Holmes will battle for the starting job along with some potential freshmen talent.
