Fords Drop Season Opener to Bears, 5-1
HAVERFORD, PA - Haverford dropped its opening
game of the 2006 season at home to Centennial Conference opponent
Ursinus, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon. Junior attack Colleen Farrell
scored the lone goal for the Fords with 2:01 left in the contest.
Ursinus kept the ball in Haverford's defensive end
for most of the game, out shooting the Fords by a margin of 39-8.
Haverford freshman goalkeeper Grace Bundens made a solid debut
in the cage, collecting 16 saves in the losing effort. The Bears
also held a 14-6 edge on penalty corners.
Allison Doutt led the attack for Ursinus (1-0, 1-0),
registering one goal and one assist. Kait Sutherland, Sam Papa,
Jennie Moore and Jess Rogers also recorded one goal apiece in
the win for the Bears.
Haverford (0-1, 0-1) will return to action next
Thursday, September 14 at 4 p.m. when they play at non-conference
opponent Cabrini.
