Swarthmore Defeats Haverford, 4-1
SWARTHMORE, PA - Haverford dropped its final
game of the 2006 Seven Sisters Field Hockey Tournament to host
Swarthmore, 4-1, Sunday morning. Junior attack Sarah Walker scored
the only goal for the Fords in the loss.
Swarthmore's Alex Gilbert-Bono scored the first
goal of the game with 3:13 left in the first half, however, Walker's
goal, assisted by senior midfielder Abby Scattergood, with no
time remaining in the first half tied the game at one a piece.
With 12:25 left in the second half, Swarthmore's Sarah Reynolds
scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Ashley Gunter. Swarthmore's
Summer Spicer and Abigail Fischer tallied the final two goals
of the game in the final 10:41 of play.
Haverford freshman goalkeeper Grace Bundens made
a tournament-high 15 saves in the losing effort.
The Fords return to action at home on Friday with
a 4:00 p.m. game against Centennial Conference opponent Franklin
& Marshall.
