WESTMINSTER, MD - Haverford junior attack Colleen
Farrell recorded her second straight game with one goal and one
assist, but it was not enough as host McDaniel scored three first
half goals en route to a 4-2 victory Saturday afternoon in Centennial
Conference field hockey action.
Green Terror senior Carolanne Bianco scored the game's first two
goals, one off a penalty corner, in the first 15 minutes of play.
McDaniel's Caitlin Porter assisted on one of Bianco's goals, and
tallied one of her own to give the Green Terror a 3-0 edge after
25:44 of play. The Fords got on the board with 2:17 left in the
first half when junior attack Sarah Walker scored her sixth goal
of the season, and second in two games, on a penalty corner off
a pass from Farrell. McDaniel, however, extended its lead to 4-1
only 1:55 into the second half. Farrell tallied her team-leading
seventh goal of the season with 2:05 left in the game, pulling
the Fords to within 4-2. It proved to be too little too late for
Haverford, as McDaniel kept the lead at 4-2 until the final horn
sounded.
The Green Terror improved to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in Centennial
action, while the Fords fell to 6-8 and 2-6.
Haverford will host Centennial rival Swarthmore on Tuesday at
4:00 p.m.
