Graves Earns First Career Shutout in 2-0 Win Over Immaculata
IMMACULATA, PA - Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah
Graves notched her first career shutout in the cage, leading visiting
Haverford College past host Immaculata, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon
in non-conference field hockey action. Haverford improves its
overall record to 5-6, while Immaculata slipped to 4-10.
The Fords offense was paced by junior attack Colleen Farrell,
who opened the scoring 5:01 into the game with an unassisted goal.
Senior attack Abby Scattergood added an unassisted goal of her
own with 8:08 remaining in the first half. The Haverford defense,
along with Graves seven saves in the cage, helped keep Immaculata
off the score sheet, securing the Fords 2-0 victory.
Farrell leads the Fords with five goals and 11 points on the season,
while Scattergood is in a close second with four goals and ten
points. Graves now has a 2-1 record in the cage since making her
first start against 18th ranked Gettysburg on September 30th.
The Fords have defeated the Mighty Macs in each of their past
four meeting dating back to 2003. In that stretch, Haverford has
outscored Immaculata by a 11-1 margin.
The Fords return to action on the road this Saturday
at 1:00 p.m. against Centennial Conference opponent Johns Hopkins.
