HAVERFORD, PA - Senior midfielder Abby Scattergood
and sophomore attack Zoe Lloyd each netted one goal, leading Haverford
past visiting Gwynedd-Mercy, 2-1, Thursday afternoon. The victory
is head coach Colleen Quinn's first collegiate coaching victory
as a head coach.
Haverford jumped on the scoresheet first when Abby
Scattergood recorded her first goal of the season off a penalty
corner 2:44 into the contest. The Fords held the 1-0 advantage
until 1:49 into the second half when the Griffins Janine Reiner
scorched a shot past Haverford goalie Grace Bundens to knot the
game at one. Zoe Lloyd managed to slip the ball past a number
of Haverford and Gwynedd Mercy players, including Griffins goalie
Lauren Monte, 13:03 into the second half for the game-winning
goal.
Each team recorded six shots in the game, while
Gwynedd-Mercy held a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Fords return to action on the road next Thursday
at 4:00 p.m. to take on non-conference opponent Cabrini.
