HAVERFORD, PA - Head coach Colleen Quinn's Haverford
field hockey team concluded its 2006 regular season Saturday afternoon
with a 1-0 loss to visiting Centennial Conference foe Dickinson.
The Fords seven victories in 2006 are the most since the 1999
team finished its season 9-10.
Dickinson's Megan Kelly got the Red Devils on the board less than
three minutes into the game, shooting the ball past Haverford
goalie Sarah Graves, into the bottom left corner of the cage.
The contest was closely contested the rest of the way, with each
team having several chances to score throughout the game. The
Fords had their best chance to tie the game in the last four minutes,
attempting four penalty corners in that span. Junior attack Colleen
Farrell fired a shot with 1:17 remaining that somehow found the
foot of Dickinson goalie Amanda West.
This afternoon's game was preceded by a team ceremony, thanking
Haverford's graduating senior field hockey players for their hard
work and commitment to the field hockey program.
Junior attack Colleen Farrell led the Fords in scoring with eight
goals and three assists for 19 points. Senior Abby Scattergood
was second with six goals and three assists for 15 points, while
junior Sarah Walker finished third with six goals for 12 points.
