Hoboken, NJ - On Sunday the women’s fencing team competed at Stevens Institute of Technology in the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Individual Championship. Haverford had six fencers named to the EWFC All-Conference team with three on the first team and three on the second team.

All three of Haverford’s epeeists finished in the top nine. Sophomore Melanie Preston went 12-5 for a fifth-place finish and was named to the All-EWFC first team. Teammates Vanessa Pena ‘09 and Emma Buckingham ’10 both finished with an 11-6 record for seventh and eighth place finishes, respectively. Pena and Buckingham also received second team All- Conference honors. Naomi Bocarsky (14-3) of Drew University won the epee title.

In saber, Sophomore Dana Litowitz finished a strong fourth place with a 12-4 record and was named to the All-EWFC first-team. Freshman Sarah Turkus went 8-8 for a ninth place finish and second team All-Conference honors. Emma Nostrand of Drew University finished 16-0 to capture the saber individual title.

Senior Heather Rozjabek was Haverford’s top finisher going 14-1 in foil to finish in second place behind Elizabeth Oliver of Hunter College (15-0). Rozjabek was named to the All-EWFC first team.
