Haverford Wins Women's Open at Paul Short Invitational
BETHLEHEM, PA - Haverford College won the College Women's
Open race at the Paul Short Invitational Friday afternoon, hosted
by Lehigh University. As a team, the Fords scored 107 points,
with all seven of their runners placing in the top 45. The Fords
easily defeated the other 29 teams in the race, as second place
finisher, Division II Wayne State, finished with 149 points.
Juniors Annick Lamar (22:57) and Jane Weber (23:04) finished the
race in 12th and 14th place, respectively. Sophomore Darian Lunne
also finished in the top 20, registering a time of 23:13, good
for 17th place. Sophomore Lena Edelstein and Junior Emma Lo placed
31st and 33rd, respectively. Edelstein completed the run in 23:53,
while Lo was only two seconds behind at 23:55. Junior Deirdre
Din completed the run in 23:59, good for 37th place, while senior
Maxine Markfield finished in 42nd place in 24:05.
The College Women's Open race at the Paul Short Invitational featured
30 teams and over 220 runners. The result of the run should help
the Fords earn more votes in next weeks U.S. Track & Field
and Cross Country Coaches Association Cross Country women's Division
III Poll. Last week, Haverford, who was unranked in the pre-season,
was 25th in the poll.
The Fords will compete at the Dickinson Invitational on October
7th at 12:00 p.m.
