Fords Place Tenth at Division III Nationals;
Letts & Vaslow Earn All-American Status
WEST CHESTER, OH – The Haverford College men’s
cross country team finished 10th overall with 314 points Saturday
afternoon at the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships,
hosted by Wilmington College of Ohio. Junior Don Letts and senior
Zach Vaslow earned All American honors, finishing the race in 14th
and 26th place, respectively. The National Championships featured
the top 32 teams and 279 runners throughout the country in Division
III.
Letts finished the 8k race in a team-best 27:22 and Vaslow completed
the run in 27:29 to earn All-American status. To achieve All-America
honors, runners must finish in the top 35 overall. Fords junior
Jamie Jablin also finished the race in the top 100, placing 85th
in 28:54. Sophomore Taylor Burmeister placed 114th in 28:38, and
Mark Burgmann finished 171st in 29:14.
The Fords closed out their season by also besting
the other lone Centennial Conference school who participated at
the Championships, Muhlenberg, as the Mules placed 29th as a team
in the event. Calvin won the 2006 championship with 37 points.
