Shorewomen Best Fords, 64-53
CHESTERTOWN, MD - Host Washington College defeated visiting
Haverford 64-53 Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference women's
basketball action. The loss drops Haverford to 4-16 overall and
3-12 in Centennial play, while Washington improves to 11-11 and
5-10 with the win. Haverford sophomore forward Brittany Lattisaw
scored a game-high 18 points in the losing effort.
Leading 30-28 at the half, Washington came out with a 7-0 run over
the first 1:26 of the second half to take a 37-28 advantage. Haverford
responded with a 12-0 run over the next 7:28, taking a 40-37 lead
with 10:56 to go. With the game knotted at 41, Washington went on
a 11-0 run to take a 52-41 lead with 4:53 left. The Shorewomen were
able to hold on to the lead over the remainder of the game for the
64-53 win.
Senior guard Abby Scattergood contributed 12 points and eight rebounds,
while sophomore guard Kathleen Abels and freshman forward each had
eight points.
The Shorewomen were led by LaToya Turner's 12 points and game-high
14 rebounds. Jane O'Donnell and Elise Conway each had ten points
for Washington.
The Fords travel to Washington D.C. on Saturday
for a 2:00 p.m. game at non-conference opponent Trinity.
