Mules Top Fords, 61-56
HAVERFORD, PA - Visiting Muhlenberg used two second half runs to
edge host Haverford, 61-56, Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference
women's basketball action. Senior guard Abby Scattergood and sophomore
guard Kathleen Abels each had 13 points for the Fords (4-14 overall,
3-10 Centennial) in the loss, while Lauren Boyle had 21 points for
the Mules (16-3, 11-3) to lead all scorers in the win.
Despite turning the ball over 17 times in the first half, the Fords
went into the locker room with a 29-22 lead. After Haverford went
up 31-22 with 19:03 left in the game, Muhlenberg went on a 12-3
run over the next 5:39 to tie the game up at 34 a piece. The Fords
built back a four point lead, 49-45, with 5:32 left. However, the
Mules closed the final 5:32 on a 16-7 run en route to the 61-56
win over the Fords.
Sophomore center Natalie Richman added seven points and four rebounds,
while sophomore forward Brittany Lattisaw was held to five points
and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of play. Junior forward Leah Fiasca
added six points for Haverford off the bench in the losing effort.
Meghan Courtney had 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds for
Muhlenberg. Kaitlyn O'Malley added seven points for the Mules, while
Boyle came away with four steals in addition to her 21 points.
The Fords shot 54.2% from the field in the first half, but only
shot 30.4% in the second half. Haverford committed 29 turnovers
in the game. Muhlenberg shot 30.3% in the first half and 45.2% in
the second period while committing only 15 turnovers in the game.
Haverford will host Centennial opponent Johns Hopkins on Saturday
