#23 Muhlenberg Holds Off Haverford, 76-62

ALLENTOWN, PA - Host Muhlenberg (10-0 overall, 5-0 Centennial), ranked 23rd nationally in Division III, went on a 12-0 run over the final 2:56 of the first half en route to a 76-62 win over Haverford College (2-8, 1-4) Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's basketball action. Sophomore forward Brittany Lattisaw paced the Fords with team-highs of 15 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

After falling behind 12-5 in the first five minutes of the game, Haverford came back with a 10-0 run over the next five minutes to take a 16-12 lead midway through the first half. With the game tied at 22 a piece, freshman guard Sara Cram drained a three-point basket with 2:56 left in the half to give the Fords a 25-22 edge. The 12-0 run at the end of the half gave the Mules the lead and some breathing room at the break, with the score at 34-25. Haverford was able to close the deficit to four points in the second half after senior Abby Scattergood hit a three-pointer from Cram with 17 minutes to go, but Muhlenberg steadily distanced itself from Haverford over the rest of the game to earn the 76-62 win.

Cram and Scattergood scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Scattergood also dished out a game-high five assists and tied a game-high with two steals for Haverford. Junior center Erica Juliano scored eight points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor off the bench for the Fords in the loss.

The Mules were paced by Meghan Courtney's game-high 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. Courtney also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Lauren Boyle tallied 16 points in the Mules victory.

Haverford out rebounded Muhlenberg by a 43-41 margin, and made 33.3% (4-12) of its three-pont attempts. The Mules shot 23.1% (3-13) from beyond the arc, but forced 27 Fords turnovers.

The Fords return to action Tuesday at Centennial foe Johns Hopkins. The opening tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
